Local transfer deposits: how to fund your account in your currency
15 February 2026 · 4 min read
How the local transfer deposit flow works on Bookxy, including the reserved account window, the receipt upload, and how review works.
Local transfer lets you fund a Bookxy balance by paying in your own currency into a bank account we control, then uploading proof. It is designed for people whose cards are not accepted internationally, which is a very common situation across the continent.
How the reservation works
When you start a local transfer, an account is reserved for you for a short window. During that window the account details you see are yours alone, which is what lets the team match your payment to your account without ambiguity. If the window expires before you pay, the request lapses and you simply start again. Nothing is lost.
Making the payment
Transfer the exact amount shown to the exact account displayed. Do not round the figure, do not send from an account in someone else's name if you can avoid it, and do not reuse account details from a previous deposit. Details rotate, and a payment into a stale account is slow to trace.
Uploading the receipt
After paying, upload the receipt or transfer confirmation. A bank app screenshot is fine as long as the amount, the date, the destination account and the reference are all legible. Then submit. The request moves to awaiting review and appears in your wallet history straight away, so you can always see where it stands.
Review
A member of the team confirms the payment landed and credits your balance. Uploading a receipt is a claim, not a credit, which is why the two states are shown separately. Once approved, the credit appears in your wallet feed like any other transaction.
Card and crypto alternatives
Card deposits are available for several currencies, including NGN, KES, GHS and USD, and clear automatically. Crypto deposits are also supported. Local transfer exists for the cases where neither of those works for you.
If something goes wrong
Keep the receipt. If a deposit has not been credited after a reasonable time, contact support with the amount, date and reference. That is almost always enough to resolve it in a single message.
