Privacy Policy

We only collect what we need to run Bookxy, pay you, and keep the platform safe. This policy explains what that means in plain language.

1. What we collect

Account details: name, email, password, phone number.
Profile information: country of residence, languages, subjects and skills you list, optional demographic details you choose to share.
Identity verification: government ID, selfie, and address checks when required for payouts.
Work data: the tasks you view and submit, quality ratings, and time spent.
Payment data: wallet balance, deposit and withdrawal records, and the bank or mobile-money details you save.
Technical data: IP address, device, browser, and cookies needed to keep the service running and secure.

2. Why we use it

To create and secure your account.
To match you with tasks you can do well.
To pay you and to detect fraud.
To comply with laws in your country, including anti-money-laundering rules.
To improve Bookxy and share aggregated, anonymised insights with clients.

3. Where your data lives

Your data is stored on cloud infrastructure that operates data centres across Africa, Europe, and the Americas. When your data leaves your country, we make sure it stays protected by contracts and technical safeguards that reflect African data protection laws such as the Nigeria Data Protection Act, the South African POPIA, the Kenya Data Protection Act, and comparable frameworks in other AfCFTA states.

4. Who we share it with

Clients who commission tasks - they see the work, not your personal details.
Payment providers and banks so we can pay you.
Identity verification partners for KYC checks.
Government or regulators when the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is open, and for a limited period afterwards to meet legal, tax, and anti-fraud obligations. After that it is deleted or fully anonymised.

6. Your rights

You can, at any time:

See a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correct information that is wrong.
Ask us to delete your account and data, subject to the record-keeping we are legally required to do.
Object to specific uses of your data, or withdraw a consent you gave.

7. Security

We encrypt data in transit and at rest, restrict internal access on a need-to-know basis, and keep audit logs of sensitive actions. No system is perfect - if we ever detect a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as required.

8. Children

Bookxy is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
